The Humantay lagoon, a name from Quechua that means "head of God" is the most sacred and beautiful in Cusco, with a depth of 17 meters at 4200 meters above sea level; It is formed by the melting of the snow-capped Salkantay and Humantay. This lagoon has a unique turquoise color because of the presence of minerals, microalgae and the reflection of sunlight, we can appreciate this magical setting.
ITINERARY
HUMANTAY LAKE FULL DAY TOUR:
We will start the day with the pickup at your hotel in Cusco between 4:30 and 5:15 am to begin the transfer to Molllepata, in the Valle del Río Apurímac. After two hours of travel, we will make a stop to have breakfast in this picturesque town, with views of a rich natural environment.
From Molllepata, we will continue by vehicle to Soraypampa (3,875 m.a.s.l.). After receiving instructions from our guide, we will start a hike of approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes to Laguna Humantay (4,250 m.a.s.l.). During the hike, we will enjoy the natural scenery and perform a ritual of respect and gratitude to Apu Salkantay, placing stones as a sign of reverence.
Upon arrival at Laguna Humantay, you will be able to take photographs of the landscape with turquoise waters and snow-capped peaks, and experience a connection with nature in a place of great beauty. We will then return to Soraypampa to board our transport back to Molllepata.
In Molllepata, we will enjoy a lunch with views of the snow-capped peaks. The final stage of the day will be the return by vehicle to Cusco, specifically near the Plaza de Armas, ensuring an efficient and comfortable experience.
